Julian is a Senior Advisor in Gresham’s corporate advisory business based in Perth.
He has worked on a variety of corporate transactions in the engineering, industrial, media, education, utilities, transport, and in particular the resources sector.
Takeover defence and merger advice includes advising Brandrill in relation to the Ausdrill merger, Centaurus in relation to the Glengarry merger, Coote in relation to the takeover offer and recapitalisation by the Elphinstone Group, PCH Group in relation to the Cape plc takeover, Portman Mining in relation to Cleveland Cliff’s acquisition, MIM in relation to Xstrata, NuStar Mining’s defence of the Sedimentary offer, Summit resources in relation to the Paladin offer, Tethyan Copper in relation to Crosby Capital and Antofagasta’s offers, and Universal Resources defence of the CopperCo offer.
Acquisitions advice includes Croesus in relation to Central Norseman, Gallery Gold in relation to the Spinifex merger, Iluka in relation to Basin Minerals, Murchison in relation to Midwest and Wesfarmers in relation to Howard Smith.
Trade sales advice includes BHP Billiton’s divestment of the Yabulu refinery, Brandrill’s acquisition of DT HiLoad, Iluka’s sale of Thalanga copper, Narama coal and PT Koba tin assets, Navitas’s acquisition of ACL and ACBT, the Mitsubishi Murchison joint venture. Wesfarmer’s acquisition of Westrail, and the sale of the Lennard Shelf lead and zinc assets for the receiver of Western Metals.
Before joining Gresham Partners, Julian worked with RFC Corporate Finance providing advice to a range of Australian and International clients. Prior to that he worked in Ernst & Young’s corporate advisory division in Perth and Commercial Union plc’s group corporate finance and planning department in London. Julian also has five years experience as a professional engineer.
Julian holds a degree in engineering with honours from the University of Western Australia, an MBA from the London Business School, where he graduated with distinction, and a post-graduate diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
